Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about SiC heating elements

Product & Technical

Our ED Type and W-Shape elements can operate up to 1600°C in air atmosphere. U-Shape elements are rated to 1500°C. In inert atmospheres (nitrogen, argon), the maximum temperature can be slightly higher.

Yes, we manufacture custom dimensions to your exact specifications. We can produce any diameter from 8mm to 54mm, hot zone lengths from 100mm to 2000mm, and cold end lengths from 150mm to 500mm. Contact Mr Pino with your furnace dimensions for a custom quote.

Under normal operating conditions, Zenith SiC elements typically last 12–36 months. Service life depends on operating temperature, atmosphere, thermal cycling frequency, and watt loading. Proper installation and gradual burn-in significantly extend service life.

SiC elements work well in: Air (most common), Nitrogen (N2), Argon (Ar), Carbon dioxide (CO2). They should NOT be used in: Pure hydrogen above 1000°C, Chlorine or fluorine atmospheres, or atmospheres with high sulfur content.

Use aluminum clamps to connect the cold ends to the power cables. Never solder or weld directly to the element. Ensure the transformer or SCR controller is rated for the total element resistance and power. Use a voltage regulator to compensate for resistance increase over time.
